Benefits of Standing Desks
Despite their popularity through history the past century has left standing desks unpopular. Due to the repetiton of the work brought upon by the increased use of computers have led to the feild of ergonomics. The way that we work is analyzed by those in the field in order to make it more comfortable to do and less stressful on the body. It has come to attention that the historical desks are very good for minimizing injuries. When standing, you are not allowed the ability to lean or slouch as you can while seated. Standing, your neck and back remain still and straight which reduces stress.
Energy is another reason that many people are turning to stand up options. It is common for workers to suffer from a significant decline in energy in the afternoon or as early as mid-morning. Although a good diet and regular exercise can help to fend off some of the lethargy, the breaks in the afternoon that span a wide variety of cultures attest that some fatigue is simply a matter of nature. Although there may be an excuse for losing energy mid day as far as biology goes, it is not likely that any boss will accept it. Realisticaly, it is important that we find a way to work past that fatigue and working while standing can help.
Working in a standing position can help to nearly completely eliminate a slump in the afternoon by providing endurance and energy. A number of office workers choose to make use of standing desks in the afternoon to combat tiredness, finding it more comfortable to work while seated through the mornings. No matter which way you look at it, there are obvious and significant benefits to working standing up for at least part of the day.
